Campaigns – Recycling and waste:
Recycling has been difficult on the Isle of Man until recently. We’ve had a few recycling bring-banks and a couple of independent recyclers.
Most of our waste went to landfill until the energy-from-waste plant (the incinerator) was built. Now most of it is burnt.
Kerbside recycling was finally introduced for Braddan, Douglas and Onchan a few years ago. Onchan later dropped out of the scheme.
We want to see less packaging – and therefore less waste – created in the first place.
